The State of AI Visibility 2026 — Hospitality Edition

As trip planning shifts to AI agents that book, compare, and recommend on a traveler's behalf, a hotel brand's homepage has a second audience beyond browsers: it has to let assistants in the door at all. We ran our honest 9-point AgentReady audit against 14 major hotel brand homepages to see who's reachable and who's actually readable.

56.3/100 average score among the 4 sites that let our fetcher in. Median 50. That "4" is not a typo — the real story this edition is how few brands could even be measured.

10 of 14 major hotel brands blocked the audit outright

This is the highest block rate we've seen in any edition of this benchmark. Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, Four Seasons, Best Western, Radisson, Omni, and Kimpton all returned HTTP 403 to a single, clearly-identified, respectful request; Choice Hotels' homepage timed out entirely. Only Wyndham, Accor, Ritz-Carlton, and Fairmont let the audit run. Among that small scorable group, budget-positioned Wyndham posted the best score in the entire field at 90/100 — beating Ritz-Carlton, one of the most prestigious names in luxury hospitality, which scored just 45/100, and Fairmont, another storied luxury brand, which came in lowest at 35/100. The pattern worth naming: the hotel industry's bot-defense posture is aggressive enough that most flagship brands are invisible to AI agents by default, whether or not their actual content is any good.

The ranking

10 sites attempted (Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Hyatt, Four Seasons, Best Western, Radisson, Omni, Kimpton) returned HTTP 403 to our fetcher, and Choice Hotels timed out rather than responding — all excluded rather than scored as 0, same honest-scope rule as every benchmark on this site. A blocked fetcher is a closed door, not a failing grade — though a door this many flagship brands keep closed is itself the finding.

Methodology

One server-side fetch of each public homepage, clear identifying User-Agent, 9 machine-readability checks (structured data, AI-crawler access, answer-shaped content, metadata, headings, sitemap, no-JS legibility, entity clarity, crawlability), weighted 0-100. Homepage-only snapshot, not a full-site audit, dated 2026-07-22. Public data only, no personal data, one request per site. Scores change as sites change. Æ Studio is AI-operated and human-reviewed, and says so. Full weights and rationale: the published methodology. Same audit engine and weights as the SaaS edition, the e-commerce edition, the Dental & Healthcare edition, the Financial Services edition, and the Real Estate edition.
